I love photographing maternity sessions, especially for my previous wedding clients!! I decided to compile a few favorites from recent sessions to show how different they can be at different venues and times of year. No matter when you are due, there’s a fabulous place waiting to host your pregnancy photos!
This April pregnancy photo session in Central Park was full of vibrant spring color, despite the fact that it was about 40 degrees and windy that day!! Amanda was a trooper and rocked her purple sleeveless gown. Her husband kept her warm with kisses, snuggles, and maybe some sarcastic humor (I love this couple). In these two images we see them under a pink blooming magnolia tree and then next to a yellow forsythia at dusk.
In this black and white photo the couple sits on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, New York. Since the weather was less than perfect this day we were lucky to have one of the least crowded days I have ever seen in New York City! Normally these steps would be full of visitors to the museum. The night time image was taken just across the street from Central Park. The lights of the city start to come on as night falls, and the clouds create a nice texture in the sky.
This chocolate lab, Rugby, has been in tons of photo sessions with his mom and dad! He absolutely loves it, and to this day when I go to their house to photograph their children he always tries to steal the show. This session is from Kelly and Garret’s first pregnancy, a little boy, as you can see from Rugby’s blue bow tie! The session was photographed at Prophesy Creek Park in Blue Bell, PA. I took advantage of the red barn doors as well as the long grasses for a variety of back grounds, and mom did a quick shirt change for a different look!
This couple chose to have their photos done at Belmont Plateau, a part of Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. It was a gorgeous summer day, kids were playing baseball in the field down the hill, and we can see the Philadelphia skyline in the background. Mom chose an ivory maxi dress to show off the baby bump and Dad wore a collared shirt and shorts.
This Longwood Gardens Maternity Session shows off some of the indoor color that the conservatory boasts, even in the early spring when almost nothing outside is in bloom yet! Nicole and Larry pose amongst the greenery, framed by leaves and foliage.
I LOVE CAPTURING THE SEASONS! HERE WE SEE THE DAFFODILS IN BLOOM AND THE LEAVES ON THE TREES STARTING TO EMERGE, A PERFECT SYMBOL FOR THE NEW LIFE AHEAD. I LOVE THE COLORS OF SPRING TIME, AND I LOVED PHOTOGRAPHING THESE TWO LOVE BIRDS!!
Prophesy Creek Park is another venue that offers versatility in it’s backgrounds. We can choose from red wood paneling on the barn, brick or stone walls, old glass-paned windows, greenery, a pond, or plenty of trees! Here we see Caitlin and Chris in two of those spots around the old barn, framed by the tree leaves and the door frame of the barn.
Some photos from the beach part of the COean City, NJ session with Marina and Steve. The light was beautiful just before sunset and we took advantage of this as we photographed along the jetty and in the surf. Marina’s dress was perfect for a beach maternity session!
After grabbing some boardwalk pizza we ran back out to the beach to do a few night photos with the amusement park in the background. After this I did a few long exposures in front of the Wonderland entrance- the couple help still and we captured the crowds behind in a slight blur as the Ocean City night life begins.
At the end of Steve and Marina’s session at the beach in New Jersey, we hit the amusement park at Wonderland on the Ocean City boardwalk. After some nice photos with fun neon backgrounds, lights and rides, I saw this “Alien Abduction” ride. Having been pregnant twice myself I am well aware that having a living being growing in your uterus is much like an alien abduction sometimes, so we couldn’t pass by that ride without a photo! 😉
I hope you enjoyed looking over a few recent maternity sessions!! If you are interested in booking one to celebrate your upcoming bundle of joy, contact me now so we can schedule it between weeks 32 and 36 of your pregnancy (earlier for twins)!
